3 Days 'Till The Term Is Up 😃😁

I'm excited that the end of Term 3 is near because I get 2 weeks off school.

I'm also sad because I still want to learn new things from the Room 12 teachers.

When I come back for Term 4 I will be excited and nervous because next Term I start thinking about the collage that I want to go to. 

River Talks🎉😀

Yesterday at approximately 12:30pm half of Room 12 and all of Room 10 went on a school walk. We went to Glen Innes Omaru River. We learnt a lot about the Omaru River and how and what we need to do to keep it safe. During the river talks we saw a Cook Island performance and it was performed by a young girl.

After the event was completed one of Saint Heliers' teachers stood up and thanked the people for what they had done. After the lady had finished speaking she lead the school into a waiata (song).

When the lady  finished I was put on the spot.  I stood up and said something. I was shaking because it was freaky. When I had finished speaking I lead Ruapotaka into a song.

WOW!🎆🎉

At precisely 1:32pm Room 10 held their the second syndicate assembly for Term 1 2018.

There was a dance battle. The first two classes were Rooms 9 and 10. The winner had to go up against Room 12. The battles were very funny because of the tricks they were doing. Like the cowboy dance, robots and a dance that I have never seen before.

In the end Room 10 ended up winning.

Get To Know Me 🎉🎆😀

My name is Katrina and I’m a year
8 student who currently attends Ruapotaka School and this is who I am. At school I have a considerable role because, I’m the head prefect of Ruapotaka School. Being a head prefect means I have to take on more responsibilities than the other 5 prefects combined. I, as head prefect, have to be an excellent role model to all students at Ruapotaka. I also have to make sure the other prefects are in shape and that they are doing their personal jobs properly. This year is probably going to be very sad because it is my last year as head prefect at Ruapotaka School.
In my family there are eight children and I’m the third eldest. I have six brothers and two sisters.  I’m half Maori, quarter Cook Islander and also quarter  Pakeha. I was born in New Zealand. My mother is Maori and my father is Cook Islander and Pakeha.

I like watching television and frequently cooking. Sometimes I cook things like noodles, mashed potatoes, and mince. My mother makes sure I’m always being watched.

My physical features include me being taller than my own age. My eyes are brown but when I cry they turn hazel.

I hope you’ve learnt a lot about me.

The Cultural Event 🌴🏝

Today at approximately 11:30 there was a very special assembly where every class did a performance about Tonga and Samoa. Each class performed different things in front of the whole school. The one I mostly enjoyed was Room 10's performance because they were singing with enthusiasm. 

Great job to all classes, you did a really wonderful job.

Orienteering

Today at approximately 11:50 am room 12 did an orienteering. When we first started orienteering we were all given different maps with different courses on them.

When I started I was confused because at first I didn't know how to read the map but later through the quest the map was actually getting easier to read. While trying to find the letters on the map it was tiring and exhausting at the same time.

The weather was really cold and windy at first but after running around it started getting warm.

At the end of the session it was still a bit chilly but at the same time it was exhausting.

Term 2 Assembly By Room 12

Yesterday Room 12 hosted the first term 2 syndicate assembly. We had an epic lip sync battle.  There were two contestants from each room who had to challenge each other to win. 

Room 9- Diego and Jacob Jacob and Diego Lip Sync Battle 
Room 10- Dominic and Peni Dominic and Peni's Lip Sync Battle
Room 11- Meafou and Vika Meafou and Vika Lip Sync Battle
Room 12-Mika and Lupe Mika and Lupe Lip Sync Battle

Each class had a wonderful performance but sadly Room 12 couldn't win because we were the host so Room 10 won because they were really good. (Especially Dominic)

Term 2 begins

Today on the 1st of May I woke up thrilled and delighted to see my teacher Mrs Golder and learn new things with Room 11 and Mr Reid. Today it was nice to see everyone happy and smiling. When I went into class I was so happy to see all my friends.

Today was the first whole school assembly and it was exciting because some people from classes get caught being good book and they take it home and read it. 

The 3rd Syndicate Assembly

Yesterday on the 6th of March was a syndicate assembly hosted by Room 10. The class organised a game called pictionary. Two people from each class had to go up and play the pictionary game. One person had to draw and one person had to try and guess the picture that was drawn on the whiteboard.

Room 9 - Alamoni and Shaniqua
Room 10 - Konzay and Leeanah
Room 11 - Min Zin and Meafou
Room 12 - Saluselo and Mika

There was a very hard picture that no one knew what it was but Meafou called out the right answer which was best friend. Room 11 won. Hard luck  to the other rooms who tried their best.

The 2nd Syndicate Assembly

On Monday the 20th of February Room 11 hosted the 2nd syndicate assembly of 2017. Room 11 had a singing competition.

Room 9 - Tyrece and Maniarose - Big Daddy Don't Go
Room 10 - Tyra and Liza - How Far I'll Go- Moana 
Room 11 - Bella and Tupouseini - How Far I'll Go - Moana
Room 12 - Vaimoana - E o'tua takaki'au

Vaimoana won because the judges chose her for her beautiful voice. Hard luck to Rooms 9, 10 and 11.

First Syndicate Assembly

Last week on Tuesday Room 12 hosted the first assembly of 2017. 
There was a dance battle between 2 to 3 people from each class.
Room 12 - Mika, Saluselo and Lupe
Room 11 - Meafou and Teremoana
Room 10 - Dominic and Peni
Room 9 -  Maniarose and Diego

It was really funny when the children from each room started dancing. All of the children tried very hard but unfortunately on one class could win. Room 10 won because the whole senior block had a vote and most of the children chose this class.

We sang 2 songs and the songs were called 'Smile And Be Happy' and 'Lean On Me'. 'Smile And Be Happy' is about living life to the fullest. 'Lean On Me' is about if you need a friend you can 'Lean On Me'.
