What Am I Proud Of?

In writing I learnt how to use paragraphs. I have read a lot so my reading age is higher than my age in reading. In maths I’ve learnt my 7, 8 and some of my 9 times table.

I’m proud of everything I have learnt in Room 10.

I liked the solar oven because we got to cook and we got to eat what we cooked.

How to throw a shot putt

Instructions:

  1. Pick up the ball with your fingers so it like you have dirty fingers but a clean palm

2. Now put the shot putt by your neck so it’s like you have a dirty neck

3. It’s like your checking the time. So take your other arm {that doesn’t have the shot putt in it} swing it around and check the time

4. After you have done all of the other things just let it fly

Dear, Nikki and Sigred

I want to thank you very very much for teaching us FLiP and also for paying for our busses to go to the Botanic Gardens.

What I learnt from the flip programme was how to be wise with money and how to save save money.

My favourite part of the Botanic Gardens was seeing Magnolias and the Cherry Blossom Tree.

Thank You so much
Your Sincerely

Narrative: Imaginary Creature

Narrative: Imaginary Creature

A very long time ago there lived a Griffin on top of a mountain. He was half lion and half eagle. He was very hairy, green eyes, very giant wings and he also had claws on the end of his legs.
He was very happy until one he came to a day when he felt sad because he didn’t have any friends.

He went down to a village and when he went to the village the people of the village got scared because he didn’t look like a human being so they got out all of their weapons and tried to  throw their knives at him.

He went back up the mountain. He went back again and the griffin said “ Hey please don’t do that I just want to make some friends,” So the King, Queen and the Princess came and said “ Hey Griffin can you please protect us because there has been a thief stealing all of our gold and that’s why the village has been trying to attack you and if you protect us you  can have some friends to play with including the princess

They all lived happily ever after

Botanic Gardens

Last week I went to the Botanic Gardens with my whole school. We went to the botanic gardens by bus and we got divided into 2 groups between our classes.

The Botanic Gardens is in Manurewa and it takes only 20 mins to go by car and 23 mins by bus.

I felt very excited when I got there because I have never been to the Botanic Gardens and last week was the 1st time I have ever been.

My favourite sculpture was the eel because it looked very fascinating.

My favourite plant was the Magnolia and my favourite area of the gardens were the Magnolias because I like the white colour they have.
It was a really cool day that day!

Animals Animals Animals!

P1050618.JPG

Last Friday I went to Auckland Zoo and we saw a lot of animals. When I went with my whole class, we were split into 3 groups and we went off to see some animals.  The people that were in my group with Mrs Buchanan were Prudence, Alex, Bella and Leilani.

The first animal we saw was a lion and we learnt so much about them. Later on we went to see the meerkats and we went through the meerkat tunnels to see a meerkat up close. During that Alex and I started yelling WHERE IS THE EXIT? PRUDENCE HURRY UP BECAUSE WE WANT TO GET OUT!!! We yelled that because we were really scared. After we got out we told Mrs Buchanan what happened and then we went and saw a different animal.

We saw all the animals except for a kiwi and a tuatara.

Aloha, Orana, Kia Orana, Talofa Lava and Kia Ora and also greetings to you all!

Kahurangi: The People Of The Pacific

Two days ago the whole school and I watched a group called Kahurangi: The People Of the Pacific.

They went around the Pacific Islands and they showed us what the dances are in Tahiti, Hawaii, Samoa, Rarotonga and lastly but not least New Zealand. They greeted us with the greeting that the people used from each of the islands.

The greeting that Lucky used for the island of Tahiti was Orana. The next Island was Samoa and the lady used the greeting Talofa Lava. The next two greetings Lucky used separately were … Aloha and Kia Orana and those greetings came from the islands of Rarotonga and Hawaii. The last island we visited was New Zealand.

In New Zealand we saw a real taiaha.

A taiaha is a weapon that many Maori people used and they showed us what the top bit of the taiaha is used for and what the bottom part of the taiaha is used for. It was really cool seeing what you can do with taiaha.

At the end we got to ask the five people some questions. My favourite question was when someone said what inspired you to dance. The other man (not Lucky) said" I dance because I love to do it and it makes me passionate and happy" and he also said it in a really funny way.

WHANAU HUI

I prepared a screencast for my parents to see. I prepared it for them to see if they came on the 19th of May but they didn’t come on that day because I didn’t have a chromebook. I still don’t have a chromebook. I posted my screencast to my blog and it’s called Parent Visit. I also made a screencast with Prudence and Tupouseini about using our Kawa Of Care. The others had fun but Tyron and I didn’t have fun when the parents visited so we played JENGA. When we were finished, it was time to go home and everyone was excited.

THE LAST DAY OF SWIMMING!

On the last day of swimming we had a swimming test. We had a swimming test to see how far we could swim. We had to go in 3's. I swam with Zion and Kuini. Kuini stopped first in the test because she was tired and then I stopped like 2 minutes after her. Zion lasted the longest so  he swam more lengths than me and Kuini. I swam 75 meters and Zion swam 100 meters. All of us swimmers had a lot of fun in the pool because after our test we did a whirl pool. I enjoyed doing breaststroke with the instructors. What is your favourite thing to do with the instructors, Rooms 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9 and Room 10? On behalf of Zion, Kuini and I, I'd like to thank the instructors. We had a great time when you came and taught us new things. Thank you very much!
